Prašice

The town of Prašice is located at the base of the Považský InPrasice_2.jpgovec Mountain foothills in the northern part of the Topoľčany District, which itself is a part of the Nitra Self-Governing Region.

Its name is usually associated with the Duchonka recreation area, which in the past was a favourite and in-demand summer recreation centre for local and foreign visitors. While Duchonka's golden age was the 1970s and the 1980s, it still offers visitors a range of sports and other options for spending free time.

Prasice_3.jpgThe surrounding foPrasice_1.jpgrests offer pleasant nature walks and trails for bicycle touring to nearby areas. Hikers can visit the 16-metre tall observation tower on Panská javorina (943 m above sea level) or the nearly 6-kilometre long Duchonka-Kulháň Forest Educational Trail. Water sports lovers can make use of the water bikes and rafts or even surf and architecture lovers can visit the imposing manor house, constructed from 1930 - 1931 in the style of a German hunting château. Night-time does not put a damper on Duchonka during the summer months with concerts and discos available to guests.
